Recent advances in mobile
technology lead to increasing deployment of pervasive infrastructures
that support “
anywhere,
anytime computing”. Various handheld
smart devices
equipped with different sensing units can be customized by
context-aware
adaptive applications. These applications, typically
driven by user-configured rules, can automatically adapt to their
environmental changes to facilitate users’ daily lives. For example,
one application might be able to assist users in switching on the
silent mode for their smart phones when they arrive at office, and
switching back to the ring mode after they return home. To achieve
that, users only need to configure two rules on their phones:

PhoneAdapter runs on Android 2.3. We have tested it on an HTC Desire
